LAWRENCE POLICE BLOTTER: March 3

  • Ikee J. Blackshear, 24, of Trenton, was charged with driving while under the influence and possession of a controlled dangerous substance at 9:33 p.m. Feb. 28 after a police officer observed him improperly backing out of the driveway at Mount’s Motel on Brunswick Pike. He was found to have an assortment of pills in his possession. 
  • A small fire was contained to a clothes dryer in the basement of a Lawrence Road residence at 5:18 p.m. Feb. 28. The victim told police he was in the basement washing clothing when he smelled an odor of smoke and noticed light coming from underneath the clothes dryer. Firefighters extinguished the fire. 
  • Jose W. Correa, 35, of Lawrence Township, was charged with driving while intoxicated at 1:47 a.m. Feb. 27 after the car he was driving was nearly struck a police patrol car on Princeton Pike. The police officer said the car, which was traveling north, was speeding and swerved out of its lane of travel, nearly striking the southbound patrol car. He was also charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, driving while intoxicated in a school zone and obstructed view. 
  • Ahmed Ali Hadi, 21, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was stopped for driving too slow on the Trenton Freeway at 7:44 p.m. Feb. 27. 
  •  Jennifer Sanchez, 20, of Hamilton Township, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after the car she was driving was stopped by police for having an obstructed view at 9:24 p.m. Feb. 27 on I-295. 
  •  Kenneth B. Swartz II, 19, of Riverside, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after assorted containers that had marijuana residue were found in his Poyda Dorm room at 3:38 a.m. Feb. 27. A Rider University security officer smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the dorm room and investigated. 
