John F. Smith, 86, of Stuart, Florida, passed away March 1 at Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart, Florida.
John was born on Jan. 8, 1930, in Jersey City. He was the son of Christopher and Estelle Smith.
In 1988, he moved from Union Beach, where he had resided for 22 years, to Stuart, Florida. Prior to living in Union Beach, he lived in Jersey City.
He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 641, Union. He retired from Acme Markets Warehouse in South Kearny.
John will be remembered as always wanting to help everyone out, and he was lovingly known as Mr. Fix-It.
He was predeceased in 1993 by his wife, Alma; his brothers, Christy, Tommy and Frankie; and his sister, Ann Marie.
Survivors include his beloved children, Janet Sleight, John F. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Toni, and Frank J. Smith; his loving grandchildren, Francis Flint and his fiancé, Michelle Swisshelm, Jennifer L. Lawson and her husband, Chad, and Jessica Jones and her husband, Ryan; his cherished great-grandchildren, Brittany Flint and her fiancé, James Myers, Frankie Flint, Ethan Perry Lawson, Maxwell Joseph Lawson and Michael Ryan Jones; his great-great-grandchildren, Riley Lynn Santiago and Jamie Skyee Myers; his sisters, Muriel Zdichowski, Gracie Needham, Stella Hulse and Janice Kozak; and his three brothers, Joey Smith, Robert Smith and Jimmy Smith.
Funeral arrangements were made by Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Stuart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John’s name may be made in appreciation to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, Florida, 34997.
