Frederick McElhenny, 94, of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, passed away on Feb. 26 at the Tel Hai Retirement Community, Honey Brook, Pennsylvania.
He was the husband of the late Alberta P. Pirrong McElhenny, who passed away in 2011.
Born in Port Reading, he was the son of the late Eugene and Nina DeWitt McElhenny.
Fred had worked for 43 years for NL Industries in New Jersey as a laboratory associate.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving for five years as a Pharmacist’s Mate.
Fred was a member of Honey Brook Presbyterian Church and had been a member of First Presbyterian Church of Woodbridge, where he was very active, serving as an elder and as the superintendent of Sunday school and the church cemetery.
He was an honest and friendly person who loved to be with his family. He enjoyed mathematics and baseball and was active in supporting Little League.
Fred is survived by his two sons, Allan R. and his wife, Luci, McElhenny of Robbinsville, and David, and his wife, Phoebe, McElhenny of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania; by his seven grandchildren, Hannah, Heather, Abby, Karen, Cindy, Mary-Jo and Eric; and by his 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Rutan.
Friends are invited to attend Fred’s Memorial Service at 2 p.m., March 19, at First Presbyterian Church, 600 Rahway Ave., Woodbridge.
