For Caitlynn Tobin, a lifelong dream became a reality last fall when she assumed stewardship of the riding program at White Pine Farm and established The Equestrian Experience. Farm owner Wallace Conover, an esteemed professional trainer/equestrian and past owner of Windward Farm, Wall, a successful show facility for 20+ years, had purchased the property located in the Ramtown section of Howell and created a peaceful setting for both rider and horse. Wally met Caitlynn 16 years ago, and became her instructor, mentor and friend. When he decided to pursue other endeavors, he chose Caitlynn to take over the facility and his school horses. Conover’s faith in Cait’s passion for horses, dedication, focus on safety and her innate teaching ability made his decision an easy one. Her success in the show ring, along with her studies, having earned a degree in psychology from Monmouth University, led her to pursue a certification from PATH International as advanced instructor. She has worked as a riding instructor in Virginia, and as a manager at Victory Stables in Colts Neck, and Celtic Charms in Howell, giving her a broad perspective on teaching. Education and unmounted lessons will represent a unique component to her program. She learned years ago from Wally that the horse is a student’s greatest teacher, “Learn to dance with your partner,” he said. At The Equestrian Experience, students ranging in age and skill level will be taught to do just that. Their successes are true celebrations of Caitlynn’s long-held, and finally realized, dream.
