The 10th annual Henry “Spud” Dobenski Jr. Memorial Scholarship Awards Dinner will begin at 4:15 p.m. March 13 at Jamesburg Elks Lodge No. 2180, West Railroad Avenue.
Cash scholarships will be presented to Monroe Township High School students living in Jamesburg and to Grace M. Breckwedel Middle School eighth-graders in recognition of their achievements in fall sports and academics. The Mallard Trap Club will provide a cash scholarship to the highest-ranked Jamesburg student graduating in June.
Tickets cost $40 per person. A five-course dinner will be prepared and served by Sir Ives Catering, Jamesburg.
The scholarship foundation is devoted to Jamesburg students in the name of “Spud” Dobenski, a resident of Jamesburg who graduated in 1957 from Jamesburg High School. Dobenski also was a soccer player, soccer official, Board of Education member, Borough Council member, American Legion commander, chairman of the borough’s annual Memorial Day Parade, and a life member of Jamesburg Elks Lodge No. 2180. The Dobenski foundation will present a check to the Elks to help the organization continue its work with special-needs children.
