Senior study groups form
CHAPTER A
Before the April 7 meeting there will be free hearing screenings by Dr. Farah Said from Raritan Valley Audiology; these start at 10 a.m. in the Senior Activity Room and are open to all Hillsborough seniors. Hearing aids will be cleaned also.
The meeting will have a presentation about Lifeline, the medical alert system.
The May meeting will have a performance by a belly dancer.

Coming up are a bus tour and museum in Newark, a trip to Sight & Sound theater for “Samson” and an overnight trip to Long Island.
Wed., March 23 — New York City Broadway matinee of “Beautiful, the Carole King Musical” and lunch on the way at Casa di Napoli in Union City Total cost per person is $161 for members, $172 for non-members.
Tues. through Mon., April 12-18 — Bus trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Biltmore Estates and Garden; Pigeon Forge with a night show, “Country Tonight”; Dollywood, and Monticello for Thomas Jefferson’s estate. Bus departs from municipal building at 8:30 a.m.
Tues., April 5 — Book club meets at 2 p.m. in the Senior Activity Room. All seniors welcome. Each participant will again read a book of their choice and provide feedback to others. We have found this approach to be quite interesting and gives us ideas for upcoming reads.
Fri., May 20 — Bus trip to Culinary Institute Hyde Park, N.Y.; lunch at American Bounty Restaurant and boat cruise on “The Pride of the Hudson.” Cost for members is $96 and $106 for guests. Depart from Lowe’s at 8:45 a.m.
Wed. to Fri., June 15-17 — Boston and Newport, R.I. Two nights at Foxwoods Resort and Casino. Bus trip to N.Y. Botanical Gardens, tour of Boston and Newport, R.I., with flower show at Rosecliff Mansion. Cost $537 for double occupancy, $507 triple, $667 single. Departs 9 a.m. from Municipal Building.
News & Notes
We will be expanding our small groups. Our Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the Senior Activity Room at 2 p.m. New participants are welcome. We plan to start groups for computers and the Civil War.
All Hillsborough seniors age 60 and older are invited to join Chapter A. Younger spouses of seniors are also eligible for membership. . Questions on membership can be directed to Loretta Tansey at 908-359-1171. General meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month unless otherwise announced.
On meeting days, doors open at 11:30 a.m., allowing time to review upcoming events and make reservations. Refreshments are available at noon and after the meeting.

CHAPTER B
The next meeting will be held on April 14. Doors at monthly meetings open at 10:30 a.m. for members to buy tickets for trips and other events. The meeting will begin at noon.
The next bingo is March 17. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Cost of $3 for one double card or $5 for two and includes lunch with two hot dogs, chips, drink and a dessert, along with prizes.

Community Events
Free exercise classes for all ability levels are available to all Hillsborough seniors in the municipal building Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 45 minutes — right where we hold our meetings.

SENIOR ROOM
In the Senior Activity Room, shuffleboard, pool table, darts and ping pong are available for use in the first and largest area. Cards and games are played in the middle area. Computers are in the third area for your use.
Monday: Knitting, crocheting and needlepoint from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday: Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Scrabble at 10 a.m. Tripoli at 1 p.m., cards from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and pinochle, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday: Mah jongg from noon to 4 p.m. Canasta from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Thursday: Bridge from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Friday: Mah jongg from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
HILLSBOROUGH SENIOR CENTER
Adults age 60 and older are invited to visit the county-operated Hillsborough Senior Center at 339 South Branch Road. The center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Its phone is 908-369-8700.
Exercise with Rose every Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. The program includes games, stretches, walks, chair fitness and strength training movement. Learn to play mah jongg Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
Transportation is available.
Enjoy lunch for a suggested donation of $1.50 or more. (Price for guests under 60 is $5.35). Call 908-369-8700 before 10:30 a.m. the day before to make a lunch reservation.

Wed., March 16 — A lecture and wire jewelry workshop, “The Life & Work of Louis Comfort Tiffany” will be an Art of the Masters program by Creative Notions at 10:30 a.m. After a 15-minute presentation about the artist, which is open to all, 16 participants will take part in a hands-on project that will be in the likeness of the featured artist. Thurs., March 17 — Saint Patrick’s Day celebration with a step dancing demonstration by Lynne’s Academy of Irish Dance students in costume, 10:45 a.m. Lunch will feature corned beef and cabbage. Call to make reservations by March 15.

Mon., March 28 — Registered dietitian Samantha Nunzio of ShopRite/Wakefern will discuss how to use seasonings to enhance foods. Recipe samples will provide a new spin on pasta.
Wed., March 30 — Mandala art design workshop, 10 a.m. Mandalas with intricate geometric patterns are thought to represent the universe. The basic Mandala is a square with four “gates” containing a circle. As an art form they are beautiful when color is added.
