EAST WINDSOR – Dr. Jerry Bagel, Windsor Dermatology’s founder and medical director, has received honors from two professional organizations. The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) honored him with its inaugural Outstanding Physician-Clinician award and the American Academy of Dermatology awarded him its Presidential Citation for his “significant contributions and dedication to promoting excellence in psoriasis research.”
In supporting a cure, Dr. Bagel served as the New Jersey State Chair for NPF’s inaugural bike ride in August 2015. Windsor Dermatology was an event sponsor and the team raised $12,500 of the $300,000 total raised. His team also participated in the Walk to Cure Psoriasis. He is a four-term member of the NPF’s Medical Board. Windsor Dermatology’s Psoriasis Treatment Center of Central New Jersey is an integral part of Dr. Bagel’s practice and is the state’s first complete facility for advanced psoriasis research and therapies.
“I’m in awe of these honors,” Dr. Bagel said. “Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about the study and treatment of psoriasis for the benefit of my patients. It is truly humbling to receive these awards that recognize my dedication and contributions toward a cure.”
Both awards were presented during the American Academy of Dermatology’s annual conference in Washington, D.C. The Presidential Citation was awarded on March 3 and the NPF award was given during a reception on March 4.
Over the past 30 years, Dr. Bagel has become a world-renowned expert on psoriasis and speaks to international audiences. He has published more than 50 articles, participated in more than 100 clinical trials and is asked to peer review psoriasis articles for numerous dermatologic journals.
Dr. Bagel’s awards come on the heels of Windsor Dermatology’s 30-year anniversary. When he launched the practice on June 29, 1985, he did so with just himself, a receptionist and a handful of clients. Today, the practice includes six board-certified dermatologists, an aesthetician, a newly-expanded clinical trials department and a cutting-edge research facility.
Earlier this year, Windsor Dermatology, located in East Windsor, expanded into a 3,000-square-foot clinical trials department.
Dr. Bagel attended public schools in Hightstown, N.J., before earning his B.A. in Biology from Boston University, his M.S. in Biochemistry from Rutgers University and his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York.
