LAWRENCE POLICE BLOTTER: March 17

  • Hector G. Melendez Jr., 31, of Staten Island, New York, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was stopped on Brunswick Pike because of burned-out light bulbs on the minivan he was driving at 2:56 a.m. March 14. He was also found to have outstanding warrants for $146 from West Windsor Township Municipal Court and for $400 from Bass River Municipal Court. 
  • Shelton M. Forney, 27, of Trenton, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after the car he was driving was stopped on Brunswick Avenue for having tinted windows at 8:11 p.m. March 14. He was also issued summonses for obstructed view, driving with a suspended license, failure to exhibit documents and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was also found to have an outstanding warrant for $350 from Trenton Municipal Court. A passenger in the car, Dearra Hearns, 19, of Trenton, was found to have two outstanding warrants totaling $720 from Trenton Municipal Court. 
  • Sarah K. Jalajas, 22, of Lawrenceville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to report an accident, no insurance and leaving the scene of an accident after she was involved in a one-car accident on Cold Soil Road at 3:45 a.m. March 13. 
  • Daniel A. Cohl, 24, of Lawrenceville, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under the influence in a school zone, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and reckless driving on Hillsdale Road at 9:22 a.m. March 13. He was also charged with possession of hypodermic needles and possession of drug paraphernalia. A caller told police that there was a car parked in front of a house on Hillsdale Road and the driver appeared to be unconscious. 
  • Zamir I. Salis, 21, of Trenton, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and weapons offenses (possession of handgun ammunition) after the car he was driving was stopped for having an expired registration on Princeton Avenue at 9:19 p.m. March 11. 
  • Pedro Vaughan, 37, of Morrisville, Pennsyl;vania, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, obstruction of the administration of law and justice and disorderly conduct for failing to obey a police officer’s command to stop while he was walking in the parking lot and area of the Red Roof Inn on Brunswick Pike at 11:54 p.m. March 8. 
