Hopewell Valley Youth Football and Cheer Association offers a six-session spring flag program open to boys and girls, ages 5-14. This is 7-on-7 non-contact football with all passing, which allows scoring offensively and defensively.
This program runs for six Sundays from 6 to 7 p.m. beginning April 17 and ending June 5 (no sessions on Mother’s Day or Memorial Day). Sessions will be held at Twin Pines, 255 Lawrenceville-Pennington Road, Pennington. Fee is $75, includes a participation T-shirt.
HVYF&CA also offers a fall tackle and cheer program open to boys and girls, ages 4-14 who are residents of Hopewell, Pennington, Titusville, Ewing and Princeton. Participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome to join.
HVYF&CA says its philosophy is that athletics and scholastics go hand in hand. At every level, HVYF&CA programs seek to develop well-rounded young men and women who learn the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, and also the importance of education, developing sound character and having a good time.
The fall tackle league begins practice Aug. 8 in the early evening from Mondays through Thursdays on the Central turf field.
Fee is $150 for 4-, 5- and 6-year-olds, and $200 for all other levels. Registration is open for both programs. For information, their website is www.hvbulldogsfootball.com.
The local organization is no longer associated with Pop Warner, but is affiliated with West Jersey Youth Football.
