On March 14 Officer Robert Voorhees charged James M. Dowd with theft of a nurse’s purse on March 8 at Capital Health Systems on Scotch Road while she was working.
A check of the surveillance system showed a man, later identified as James M. Dowd, 44, of Marlton, leaving the area where the purse was. On March 9 Officer Voorhees received a phone call from Union Township Police, who said they had stopped a stolen vehicle and the driver, who was identified as James M. Dowd, had the purse and driver’s license of the victim, as well as many other stolen purses. He was placed in the Union County Jail, where Mr. Dowd remains.
The charges have been forwarded to Union County.
