WEST WINDSOR — The Kohl’s department store, located on Nassau Park Boulevard and an anchor store at the Nassau Park Pavilion shopping mall, will close its doors in June, according to Kohl’s company officials.
The West Windsor Township store, which will close June 19, has been identified by Kohl’s company officials as an under-performing store. It is one of 18 stores nationwide that will close on that date, according to a company press release.
The move does not affect the Kohl’s store at the Hillsborough Promenade in Hillsborough Township or the store at the Hamilton Marketplace in Hamilton Township. Those stores will remain open.
“Kohl’s conducted a comprehensive review of all of the markets across the country to understand every element that contributes to making a store successful — from review of the others stores in the area, to the rent and expenses involved in operating any location,” according to the press release.
Company officials said that eligible store associates would be offered a chance to work at a nearby Kohl’s, or to accept a severance package instead. Each store employs about 80 to 100 associates.
