WEST WINDSOR — Janet M. Bowes, the assistant principal at the Town Center Elementary School of Plainsboro, has been named the school’s new principal.
The West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional Board of Education appointed Ms. Bowes to her new position Tuesday night. She will take over the reins at the elementary school on July 1. She will earn $153,574.
Ms. Bowes will replace Principal Brian Stevens, who is retiring from the district after 26 years. He had served as the principal of the Village School, and moved over to the Town Center Elementary School when it opened in 2002.
“This is very exciting. Town Center Elementary School is a wonderful place to work, with great parents, great students and great staff. I am fortunate to become the principal (at the elementary school),” Ms. Bowes said Tuesday night.
The Town Center Elementary School is a grades pre-kindergarten to grade 2 school.
Ms. Bowes has worked in the school district since 1986. She taught first- and second-grade and also was a reading specialist, working in the Town Center, Wicoff, Dutch Neck and Village elementary schools. She was named assistant principal at the Town Center Elementary School in 2010.
Ms. Bowes earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Pennsylvania State University, and received a special education certificate from LaSalle University.
She received a master’s degree in reading and language arts and a reading specialist certificate from Rider University. She also holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and a principal’s certificate from Temple University.
