On May 30, the 89th Annual Metuchen Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will kick off at 10 a.m. (rain or shine), hosted by Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Metuchen Savings Bank.
This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Military Heroes,” with Metuchen’s Austin Banks serving as grand marshal. Banks is a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran and recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of his combat service.
Ceremony entertainment will be provided by The N.J. Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet.
The Chamber invites all civic groups and businesses to participate. They are looking for volunteers, parade drivers and marching units, with a special invitation to veterans and active duty personnel home on leave.
And they are seeking fiscal sponsors that encompass several levels including your own personal message of support, encouragement or memorial tribute that will be featured in the Memorial Day Ceremony Program.
To register your unit for the parade, call 732-548-2964 by May 13. Veterans and Active Duty Personnel can contact the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce so that special arrangements can be made for their participation.
