HILLSBOROUGH: Hiller to challenge DelCore for GOP nod

Young real estate agent Thomas Hiller Jr. will challenge Frank DelCore for the Republican nomination for Township Committee this year.
One three-year seat is up in 2016. Monday was the filing deadline to land a spot on the primary election ballot. Independents have until June 7 to file.
Mr. Hiller, who is 20, said he has lived a majority of his life in Hillsborough and graduated from high school here. He got his real estate license at age 18 and sold his first house, and at 19 bought his first house, he said.
He said there were problems with real estate matters and education, but he was “really running because of his love for Hillsborough,” he said.
Unopposed, Mayor DelCore was unanimously endorsed March 1 by more than 75 who attended the screening of candidates at the Hillsborough Township Republican Club.
Township Democrats have one candidate: Laurie Poppe, who ran in 2015.
Mayor DelCore, who has lived in Hillsborough since 2001, is in his ninth year on the governing body and is serving as mayor for his fourth year, previously holding the office in 2009, 2010 and 2013.
