PLUMSTED – Two members of the Township Committee will seek re-election in November.
Incumbent Republicans Herbert Marinari and Vincent Lotito have filed nominating petitions to run for two three-year terms, according to Township Clerk Dorothy Hendrickson. The filing deadline was April 4.
Republicans hold a 5-0 majority on the governing body.
Lotito was appointed to the committee in January 2015 to fill a vacant seat. In November 2015 he was elected to serve the final year (2016) of the term to which he had been appointed. This year he will run for his first full term.
Marinari was appointed to the committee in December 2011 to fill a vacant seat. He served as an appointee in 2012. In November 2012 he was elected to serve the final year (2013) of the term to which he had been appointed. In November 2013 he was elected to a three-year term. This year he will be seeking his second full term.
Although no Democrats filed to run for office in Plumsted, a Democrat could earn a place on the November ballot by receiving write-in votes in the June 7 primary. An individual who wants to run for the committee as an independent candidate has until June 7 to file a nominating petition.
