The town will have a forum May 18 on the legal liability people face for allowing their homes to host under-age drinking, Council President Lance Liverman said Monday.
Mr. Liverman said the forum was planned ahead of the recent revelation of Princeton High School students caught playing a Jews vs. Nazis beer pong game. The forum might be moved up in light of what happened, but nothing is definite at this point, he said.
“This is not just a Princeton issue or a Mercer County issue or a New Jersey issue, it’s an entire country issue,” Mr. Liverman said of underage drinking. “I think it happens all over, unfortunately.”
For now, the forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Witherspoon Hall municipal building, 400 Witherspoon St. Mr. Liverman said the roster of speakers that night would include municipal prosecutor Reed Gusciora, representatives of the police department and the director of the emergency room at University Medical Center.
His comments come after a photograph surfaced last week of the high schoolers playing the beer pong game, in a story that has made headlines across the country. Mr. Liverman said the students were at the home of a prominent family, but he would not name names given the case involves minors.
Police have said they are investigating.
