Sayreville artist inspired by ‘The New Day’

SAYREVILLE – Artist Anthony De Monte has received a Special Recognition Award in the 18th annual Judeo-Christian Juried Online International Art Exhibition, held by Upstream People Gallery, Omaha, Nebraska.

This international exhibition received approximately 100 art entries from around the world. Twenty one artists were selected by juror Laurence Bradshaw, Professor Emeritus of Art & Art History at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

“I believe there is a great emotional and symbolic potential in landscape painting. Sunrises always conjure up pleasant associations and ‘The New Day’ is intended to create that hopeful sentiment in the viewer,’” De Monte said. “As a Christian, I usually have a Bible verse in the back of my head while painting, and this one’s was, ‘The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever’ (Isaiah 40:8).  The Christian moral of this painting is that though the beauty of morning rapidly fades away, the hope God gives never does.”‘

“Anthony De Monte of Sayreville, New Jersey, paints a fantastic oil painting entitled ‘The New Day.’ The curious reddish cloud movement in the sky makes an impressive statement in the wonderful landscape showing a figure looking on to the sunrise. Nice to see the attention to detail,” Bradshaw said.

The exhibition will be featured online during April at www.upstreampeoplegallery.com and continue indefinitely in the archives section of the website.
