With big performances to help lead the Lycoming College women’s lacrosse team to a pair of wins, senior Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck/Anne Arundel C.C.) and junior Nicole Gerling (Allentown) have earned the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, respectively, the conference office in Annville, Pennsylvania, announced April 4.
Gerling, meanwhile, earned her third weekly award from the MAC Commonwealth, as she posted a pair of nine-save efforts to lead the Warriors past Misericordia University and Arcadia University. Gerling notched nine saves and allowed just six goals while facing 22 shots against Misericordia. She then made nine saves and allowed just seven goals while facing 22 shots against Arcadia. Gerling finished the week with a 6.50 goals-against average and a .581 save percentage.
Gerling led the Warriors with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, as Lycoming suffered its first defeat of the season at 19th-ranked Messiah College, 17-2, in MAC Commonwealth action April 6 at the Starry Athletic Complex.
Three Lycoming College players finished with a hat trick and the team scored six of the final seven goals to lift itself to a key 14-9 MAC Commonwealth win over Widener University April 10 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.
Gerling improved to 10-1 on the year in net, as she made seven saves and picked up three ground balls in her 25th career win.
