The Woodbridge High School baseball team led their school in raising funds and awareness for kids battling cancer by participating in Go4theGoal’s Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer campaign.
“The Woodbridge baseball program every year attempts to give back to the community,” Coach Lou Urbano said. “The past two years have been for Autism Awareness, but this year we felt raising funds for pediatric cancer would help raise awareness for something that is sometimes overlooked by the general population. Our players took great pride in raising money to help benefit children in need and the entire school seemed to rally behind them as well to support this great cause.”
Not only did the Woodbridge Barrons Lace Up with Go4theGoal’s GOLD laces, but they also sold laces to their fellow students and raised more than $1,200. Funds from the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer campaign go to Go4theGoal’s patient assistance and program support at local treatment facilities.
“We are always excited when a team chooses to Lace Up and show their support for local kids with cancer,” said Karen Flint, Go4theGoal’s Director of Athletics. “But when a team takes the initiative to reach out to their fellow classmates, friends, and family and get them to Lace Up as well, it really shows their commitment to the fight against pediatric cancer.”
