Passover services will be held Saturday, April 23, at 9 a.m. There is no service on the night of the first Seder. The Sunday service is at 9:30 a.m. Services also will be held April 28 at 6 p.m., April 29 at 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Yizkor will be recited at Sabbath services on April 30.
The Yom HaShoah service, Holocaust Memorial Day, is Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. The service includes a candle procession, prayers and poem reading. The yellow candle handed out by the Men’s Club should be lit the evening of the May 4.
The Beth El Genealogy Club meeting on Sunday, May 15, is dedicated to Yom HaShoah. The guest speaker is Ryan Lilienthal, whose family was deported from their homes in Germany and sent to their deaths in Poland’s concentration camps. He embarked on a mission to find out his family’s origins. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m.
There are a number of events on Wednesday, May 11: JFCS Kosher Cafe East is at 12:30 p.m.; Holiday Hoopla and Book Club, for families with children from age 3 through second grade, is at 5:45 p.m. The subject is Israel Independence Day; a celebration of Israel Memorial Day and Independence Day. You can learn about the Hechalutz Farm in Hightstown, which trained young Zionists in farming before they headed off to Palestine and established several kibbutzim. There will be an audio-visual presentation. The times vary. Show 1 is at 5:30, Dinner is at 6:30 and Show 2 is at 7 p.m. Call for reservations.

Congratulations to Jacqueline Harris, who has been awarded the Mayer and Charlotte Chazin Jewish scholarship. This summer she will be attending the USY on Wheels program.

The college send-off ceremony is Saturday, May 14, during Sabbath services. It’s a celebration for those Beth El students who are heading off to college in the fall.
A Tot Shabbat will be held Saturday, May 21, at 10:30 a.m.
