The Hopewell Valley under-14 girls’ Hurricanes defeated Hunterdon FC Dynamo, 2-0, on the road in JAGS league action on Sunday.
Julia Peters got the Hurricanes on the scoreboard 10 minutes into the game off a nice build-up through the midfield between Jolene Evich and Charlotte Hare, which led to a pass into the box for Ellie Hawkey, who slotted the ball for Peters to strike.
Maddie Schrader sealed the victory in the second half with a curling left-footed shot that evaded the goalkeeper’s reach, after Fiona McCaffrey and Kerry Buglino applied heavy pressure on the Dynamo defense to force a turnover.
The Hurricanes earned the clean sheet with goalkeepers Kate Allen and Schrader making key saves, behind a strong defensive effort from Chloe Mummert, Carly Sison, Anna Cappucci and Emily Cooke.
