Richard Garlipp, author of “New Jersey’s Covered Bridges,” will be guest speaker at the next meeting of the East Brunswick Historical Society, 2-4 p.m. May 15 at the Historical Society House, 78 Milltown Road, East Brunswick.
At one time New Jersey had as many as 45 covered bridges. Today, just one — Green Sergeant’s, built in 1872 over the Wickecheoke Creek in Hunterdon County — survives. There will be an exhibit of covered bridges on display to coincide with the presentation. Copies of Garlipp’s book will be available.
