Hopewell Township police are continuing to investigate who entered a home, stole items and spread animal feces on April 18, according to police.
At 6 p.m. Officer Christopher Vaccarino was dispatched to a residence on Colt Street on the report of a burglary about 45 minutes earlier. He met with the victim and her children, who were home at the time of the burglary.
They said an unknown person entered the residence through an unlocked door and stole various items. They also spread what appeared to be animal feces on rugs.
The stolen items, valued at about $60, were recovered nearby in a neighbor’s back yard. The neighbor is not believed to be involved.
The victim said she heard her front door close at 5:15 p.m. and assumed it was her children going out to play. Her children heard the door close, but thought it was the mother going outside. In fact, it was likely the intruder.
