Two Mercer County government facilities, including the office of the county park commission, were raided Tuesday by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office as part of an investigation that authorities would not disclose the target of.
The county confirmed that the Attorney General’s Office had a warrant to search the Hunt House in Hopewell, where the park commission office is located, and the Tennis Center in West Windsor “as part of an investigation.”
“Mercer County is cooperating fully with the state and cannot offer further comment during this ongoing investigation,” said county spokeswoman Julie Willmot by email Wednesday.
For its part, the Attorney General’s Office released no information about the matter.
“Our policy is that we neither confirm nor deny the status or existence of criminal investigations,” said Peter Aseltine, a spokesman for the Attorney General’s Office, by email Wednesday.
Mercer County Freeholder Andrew Koontz, a Princeton resident, said Wednesday that he did not know anything about the matter beyond what he had read in the press.
