In reports from Hopewell township police:
A driver involved in a two-vehicle crash April 21 on Cherry Valley Road was ultimately arrested six hours later in Princeton.
At 10:38 p.m. Officer John Ferner was dispatched to the site of the crash. While en route, he was advised that one of the drivers had run from the scene. The two passengers in the second vehicle complained of minor injuries and were treated by the Hopewell First Aid Unit, but did not get taken to the hospital.
Officer Ferner found evidence to identify the driver and searched the area but did not locate him At 4:30 a.m. the Princeton Police Department located the man, who was identified as Eric Jacobs, 47, of Phippsburg, Maine.
Officer Ferner went to Princeton and met with the officers. While speaking to Mr. Jacobs, Officer Ferner could smell the odor of alcohol around the suspect, police said. After roadside sobriety testing Mr. Jacobs was placed under arrest, taken to police headquarters, processed and later released to a friend after being charged with two counts of aggravated assault, DWI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and improper passing.
His case will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
– Not wearing a seatbelt led to a charge of drug possession and distribution on April 15.
At 1:16 p.m. Officer Nicholas Sparaco stopped a 1997 Oldsmobile near the Pennington Circle in Hopewell Township after he saw the driver, Henry H. Stanley, 30, of Levittown, Pa., allegedly not buckled up.
A Bucks County Sheriff’s Office warrant was located for failing to appear on a drug possession and distribution charge in Bucks County. Mr. Stanley was placed under arrest and lodged in the Mercer County Correctional Facility without bail, pending extradition to Pennsylvania. He was also cited for the seatbelt violation and failing to have a license in his possession.
— On April 19 at 8:08 p.m. Officer James Rosso stopped a 2008 Nissan on Route 31 near Interstate 95 after a random computer look-up showed the registered owner’s license was suspended. The driver matched the basic description of the registered owner.
While speaking with the driver, who was identified as Ana B. Barrientosdeenriq, 42, of Hazel Avenue, Ewing, the officer confirmed she was the registered owner. Warrants for her arrest from Lawrence Township were also located. She was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters. After being cited for driving while her credentials were suspended, she was turned over the Lawrence Township Police.
– On April 5 at 9:41 a.m. Officer Vincent Amabile stopped a 2012 Freightliner on Bear Tavern Road for being in violation of the weight restriction on the roadway. While speaking with the driver, who was identified as Michael D. Hammond, 24, of Camden, a Pennsauken warrant was located. He was placed under arrest, processed at police headquarters and released after being cited for the truck route violation. His cases will be heard in municipal court.
