Bishop Ahr teacher honored with educational grant

Local Farmers Insurance agent Edward VanEckert honored teacher Richard Lutomski at Bishop George Ahr High School, Edison, on April 12 with an educational grant of $2,500 as part of the insurer’s Thank America’s Teachers program.

Lutomski’s grant will give at least 50 more students the opportunity to participate in service-based retreats that give students the opportunity to perform many different types of community service, including packing lunches to send to soup kitchens; volunteering at Elijah’s Promise, TASK (Trenton Area Soup Kitchen), and the New Jersey Community Food Bank; supporting local food drives; and participating in fundraising walks.

Lutomski is among 60 winners nationally to receive a $2,500 educational grant through the Farmers Insurance Thank America’s Teachers national program in 2016. Across the nation teachers submitted proposals for funding during the first-round of submissions via the ThankAmericasTeachers.com website.
