Following an April 25 performance at Carnegie Hall, the Tucson (Arizona) Boys Chorus visited the Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale for rehearsals and a joint community concert.
The April 26 concert at the Pennington Presbyterian Church included songs performed by each choir (the Arizona performance included their spinning lasso maneuvers) and the concert ended with the combined choirs singing HVYC’s signature song, “Give Us Hope.”
The Arizona choristers stayed two nights with HVYC host families before heading to Temple University for their final East Coast performance. HVYC will be doing its own traveling when it performs at the Sing-a-Mile-High Festival in Denver in late June.
The boys’ choir also performed at the Pennington School and Westminster Choir College on Wednesday.
While in Hopewell the Arizona boys sampled local fare from Nomad Pizza, Osteria Procaccini, Pennington Pizza Restaurant, Brick Farm Market and Franco’s, to name a few. On Thursday they left for Temple University for the last performance on their Northeast tour.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale has provided children the chance to explore, prepare and perform a repertoire of choral music. Members also give back through donations to charities and performances at senior care facilities and community events.
The chorale will hold its spring concert at the Pennington Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12.
Auditions are open for the 2016-17 year. Visit www.hvyc.org for information.
