The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County, 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison, has announced Stuart Liss will present “The Rothschilds” at 10:30 a.m. on May 17.
This presentation will cover Rothschild’s earliest days and the life of the patriarch Meyer Amschel Rothschild. It will delve into the family history, and how they became the world’s leading financiers so soon after the Jews were able to move out of the ghettos.
It will also touch on their religious views in light of living during these turbulent and changing times; their views on Zionism; how they managed to be so successful in the face of continuing anti-Semitism; how they were able to expand their operations to London, Paris, Naples, Vienna, and elsewhere; who they lent to; how they secured their loans; how shifting political alliances shaped their business strategy. It will conclude with a brief summary on the family’s current state of affairs. Stuart Liss graduated Yeshiva University with a degree in Jewish education, psychology and Spanish.
The cost is $8 for JCCMC Members; $11 for nonmembers.
