METUCHEN — Of more than 6,000 fourth grade students who participated in the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) Design a Fourth Grade Folder Contest, two Metuchen girls are part of the 30 finalists.
Humera Delia Alisammond and Anika Kundu were named finalists from Campbell Elementary School in Metuchen. Humera’s artwork showcased her message, “Choose to Be Drug Free” and Anika’s artwork of a surfer said, “I Surf Away From Drugs.”
“These young students from around the state are setting tremendous examples for others to follow,” said Angelo M. Valente, executive director of PDFNJ. “With their creativity and enthusiasm, they are to be commended for delivering compelling messages through their artwork to other students about enjoying a healthy life without drugs. Their artwork will
help other children and teens understand that there are alternatives to drugs that are fun and rewarding.”
The awards ceremony was held at Newark Museum on April 27.
