NORTH BRUNSWICK – The Township Council held a moment of silence on May 2 in honor of Carlo DiLalla.

A longtime resident of the township, DiLalla passed away April 29 at the age of 65.

He was president of the North Brunswick Youth Soccer Club for 10 years, a board member of the Youth Sports Festival Committee, a member of the North Brunswick Republican Committee and a member of the Adams Athletic Club.

He was the owner of CKO in Hanover and was a financial consultant for One America, according to his obituary from the Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home in Bayonne.

“He was very active within the community. He was a dedicated coach, volunteer, father and husband. Carlo could be seen every Saturday in the spring and fall at the soccer fields. He could be seen every year at the Youth Sports Festival volunteering countless hours. Carlo’s contributions to the township over the course of years is invaluable. His untimely passing is truly shocking and truly sad,” Councilman Carlo Socio said.

DiLalla was very involved with township politics. He ran for State Assembly twice as a Republican. He also ran for a seat on the North Brunswick Board of Education.

“He was a great candidate. He was everything someone could ask for in running for public office,” said Michael Rizzi of the North Brunswick Republican Club.

Mayor Francis “Mac” Womack said DiLalla was “so valuable to the township.” He announced that the township would issue a proclamation on May 3, and that the township’s flags would be at half-mast on May 4.

DiLalla is survived by his wife, Maria Tartaglione DiLalla; his children, Carlo Jr., Peter and Gabrielle; his sister, Rosemarie Charlton; his niece, Cristin Charlton; and his nephew, James Charlton.

The funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Peace Church, North Brunswick. Entombment followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, East Brunswick. Arrangements were under the direction of Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
