After leading the MAC Commonwealth in goals and assists, Lycoming College senior Meghenn Jackson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck/Anne Arundel C.C.) capped a remarkable 2015-16 academic year by being named the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year, the conference office in Annville, Pennsylvania, announced May 3.
In addition, sophomore midfielder Jordan Lazarich (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) was named to the all-conference first team, and both junior goalkeeper Nicole Gerling (Allentown) and sophomore defender Jenna Hudson (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) were named honorable mention all-conference.
Brynne Bauman (Red Bank Catholic), Victoria Quercia (Monroe Township) and Erin Powers (Matawan Regional) were members of the 2016 softball team at Felician University.
Saint John Vianney High School junior Matthew Langdon of Lincroft received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Award. This award is given to a high school junior who exhibits exceptional performance and potential in the areas of academics, athletics, community service, good citizenship and leadership.
Langdon accepted his award at a ceremony at West Point April 23.
“I am so honored to receive the Dwight D. Eisenhower Award, and getting to spend the day at the ceremony at West Point was an amazing experience,” he said.
The West Point Society of New Jersey sponsors many high schools throughout New Jersey. Each year, these high schools select a high school junior who exhibits exceptional performance and potential in the areas of academics, athletics, community service, good citizenship and leadership.
Langdon plans on majoring in mechanical engineering in college. He has applied to Penn State University and the University of Maryland.
