In the wake of a house burglary and two car burglaries within the last week, the Princeton Police Department is seeking to remind residents to lock both their cars and their houses to prevent break-ins.
The Police Department also urges residents to turn on their burglar alarms at night and whenever they leave home, if they have a burglar alarm system. And if they see any suspicious activity, they are urged to call police.
A house on Highland Terrace, off The Great Road in the northwest section of Princeton, was entered during the daytime on May 10, police said. The rear door was forced open to gain entry. Several items, including jewelry, were reported stolen.
On May 3, a thief entered an unlocked car on Marion Road East sometime between 8 p.m. May 2 and 8 a.m. May 3. The thief took a tennis racquet and a purse. A second car parked in the driveway was also entered, but nothing was reported missing.
A few days later, an unlocked car parked on Deer Path was entered. A Dell laptop computer and a Samsung Galaxy cell phone, valued at a combined $1,000, were reported stolen. The burglary and theft occurred between 7 p.m. May 7 and 10:30 a.m. May 8.
