EAST WINDSOR: Event drives MCTS students to raise funds

Haldeman Ford, the Mercer County Technical School District (MCTS) students and members of the local community raised an expected $5,000 for MCTS student activities at a test-drive event May 7 at Haldeman Ford’s East Windsor store.
The test-drive event is part of Ford Motor Company’s Drive 4 UR School program, which provides funds from Haldeman Ford and Ford Motor Company each time a participant test drives a Ford vehicle. Students were responsible for generating interest and this year created a competition among homeroom classes to impact participation levels.
Approximately 250 people test-drove a Ford vehicle, generating a donation amount in the range of $5,000.
“Part of our commitment to our customers is having a positive impact in the community in which we all live and work,” said JR Battreall, general manager of Haldeman Ford. “With the funds we will donate as a result of this year’s Drive 4 UR School event, we are proud to impact the educational experience of the students of the Mercer County Technical School District. Over the years, Haldeman Ford has hired several students from MCTS. It is our pleasure to continue working with this impressive educational institution.”
The partnership between Haldeman Ford and MCTS has been underway since 2011 with more than $30,000 raised over that time period.
“Haldeman consistently recognizes the importance of career and technical education programs and provides jobs for the residents of Mercer County. We were honored to once again participate with them in this important event while also having some fun,” said Dr. Kimberly J. Schneider, superintendent of the Mercer County Technical School District.
To date, Ford dealerships across the United States have helped raise more than $30 million for local schools and non-profits as a result of their partnership with the Drive 4 UR School and Drive 4 UR Community programs. The money raised during the Drive 4 UR School program has helped ensure that extracurricular actives such as sports and music programs continue in local communities.
