EAST BRUNSWICK – New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) officials have announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project will require a road closure and detour this weekend in East Brunswick.
The existing crossing will be replaced with new concrete crossings and new asphalt approaches, according to a statement prepared by DOT. This project is included within DOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades or removes approximately 30 crossings each year statewide.
The one-way traffic on Emerson Street is scheduled to be closed at Main Street before the Conrail freight railroad grade crossing between Main Street and Squire Street from 7 a.m. on May 14 through 7 p.m. on May 15.
Traffic will be directed from Main Street/Route 615 to River Road/Route 677, Chestnut Avenue, Pine Street, Old Bridge Turnpike/Route 527 and Matawan Road
