E.B. to commemorate Memorial Day May 29

East Brunswick Township will hold its annual Memorial Day Observance beginning at 1 p.m. May 29, rain or shine, in Veterans Park on the grounds of the municipal complex, 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive.

The event will honor the men and women who lost their lives defending the United States. Jewish War Veterans Post No. 311, East Brunswick, will serve as the host post. Mayor Kevin McEvoy, who will serve as master of ceremonies, also will dedicate the commemorative street signs created for those streets named after the township’s fallen heroes.

Other program participants will include veterans groups, members of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corps, the East Brunswick High School Brass Choir and the East Brunswick Community Chorus. East Brunswick student Phoebe Struminger will sing “God Bless America.”

There will be a veterans ceremony, a flag raising, a presentation of wreaths and a mini patriotic concert. A celebration will be held to mark the 20th anniversary of the Veterans Monument created by sculptor Blaise Batko.

The public is invited to attend the event, which is sponsored by the township of East Brunswick, Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services, and the East Brunswick Veterans Alliance.
