NEWARK – Everyone loves a parade and the sounds of a pipe and drum band, especially when it includes shiny fire trucks with sirens blasting. But that’s only part of the family festivities planned for the 49th annual Fireman’s Muster on Sunday, June 5, from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Newark Museum and across the street in Washington Park.
Presented by the Newark Fire Department and the Newark Museum, day-long festivities and programming are scheduled in Washington Park, inside the museum and in the Newark Fire Museum, located in the Alice Dreyfuss Memorial Garden on the Newark Museum grounds. Food and drink will be available from the Newark Fire Department.
An exhibition of model fire apparatus will be on display in Washington Park. A parade of Antique Fire Apparatus will begin in the park at 12:20 p.m., and the Newark Firefighters Pipe and Drum Band will perform there at 3 p.m. Activities scheduled at the Museum include hands on family projects, planetarium shows and tours of the Newark Fire Museum. All activities are free with Museum admission.
