Hillsborough police reported two cases of shoplifting in May.
Michael Rao, 61, of Hillsborough was charged May 11 with shoplifting lobster from Shop-Rite supermarket on Route 206. Police said he concealed $137 in lobster and left without paying. He was released pending a court appearance.
Rebecca Carlin, 27, of Manville was charged May 3 with hiding clothing and merchandise, valued at a total of $190.90, under both her clothing and in a shopping cart and leaving Kohl’s department store on Route 206 without paying.
She was temporarily lodged in Somerset County jail after she was unable to post bail.

— Trevor Hammond, 21, of Nampa, Idaho, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after it was allegedly found in his vehicle in a commercial parking lot of Amwell Road on May 7. He was released pending a court appearance.
— A Zion Road resident reported May 9 that a Yamaha YZ250 dirtbike was stolen from his shed in the previous night. The vehicle, valued at $3,500, has not been recovered.
