The documentary film “Screenagers” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 5, and 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at the Performing Arts Center at Central High School. The Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance is partnering with the Hopewell Valley Regional School District in presenting the movie, which addresses youngsters growing up in the digital age.
Are you watching kids scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that happening with her own kids and began a quest to uncover how it might impact their development.
Ms. Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and Internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny, stories, along with insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, “Screenagers” talks about how tech time impacts kids’ development. It also offers solutions on how adults can empower their kids to best navigate the digital world to find balance.
