Event to feature arts fest, market, food trucks

The Township of East Brunswick, Department of Recreation and Parks will sponsor its Spring Fest event, featuring an arts festival, a farmers market, food trucks and live music, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 4 outdoors at the East Brunswick municipal complex, Jean Walling Civic Center, Ryders Lane. Rain date is June 5.

Five food trucks – Empanada Guy, Zinna’s Eatz, Food for All Food Truck, Madame Pearl’s Waffle and House of Cupcakes – will be on hand. Live music will be provided beginning at 11 a.m. by East Brunswick’s guitar and vocalist Tommy Aboussleman and guests and the acoustic trio Catmoondaddy.

The 14th annual East Brunswick Arts Festival will be set up around the pond with 70 artists exhibiting their work, demonstrating their talents and offering original art and craft items for sale. Held in a 17-acre park setting with walkways, park benches and trees surrounding a pond, the event attracts artists from New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Original work will be represented in all media including oil/acrylic; watercolor; photography; sculpture; graphics/drawings/pastels; mixed media; and fine handcrafts including glass, pottery, jewelry, accessories, mosaics, stained glass, turned wood and woodcrafts.

There will be children’s activities, including craft projects and mural coloring, all during the event. Balloon twisting and face painting will be available noon-3 p.m.

The June Farmers Market, sponsored by The Township of East Brunswick, the East Brunswick Environmental Commission and the East Brunswick Green Team, will be located in the courtyard in front of the municipal building. The market will feature vendors from across New Jersey and will offer locally grown products.

The East Brunswick Public Library will have a table for children’s activities in the courtyard. Several art programs will be ongoing throughout the day inside the library. Bricks 4 Kidz will lead a Lego-building program starting at 11 a.m. The Artist People will host a “Painting for Kids” class at 2 p.m. and family crafting at 3:30 p.m.
