Sen. Menendez’s staff to talk to constituents
Fri., June 3 — Staff from U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez’s office will be in the Hillsborough Library at 379 South Branch Road from noon to 3 p.m. to speak with residents and provide information on federal issues such as veterans affairs, Social Security, the IRS and Medicare.
Blood drives hosted in town hall, YMCA
June 4 and 10 — Hillsborough Township will be the site of two blood drives.
Donations will be taken during Hillsborough Hop run festivities Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the municipal building on South Branch Road.
People can also give blood Friday, June 10, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough YMCA on East Mountain Road.

Skill activities offered at Circus Dance Festival
Sat., June 4 — The Dance Connection of Hillsborough will present its second annual free Circus Dance Festival from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on the fields at Auten Road Intermediate School.
Organizers says the festival “is like a theme park, a live video game, and a street performance all rolled into one.” Attendees can walk on stilts, be part of a flash mob, solve a riddle, and meet and interact with characters. RSVP is asked.
Route 206 firehouse hosts a flea market
Sat., June 4 — Sell or browse the merchandise at a flea market held twice a month at the Hillsborough Fire Co. No. 2 firehouse at 375 Route 206.
The flea markets are held from 9 a.m. and go as long as there are customers. Markets are located on the grass adjacent to the firehouse. Arrive as early as you like.
Future markets are June 18, July 9 and 23, Aug. 6 and 27, Sept, 10 and 24, and Oct. 8 and 22.
Market outside spaces are available for $15 each on morning of event. No tables or chairs provided.

Meet horses who help vets kids overcome trauma
Sun., June 5 — Meet the “Healing Herd“ of horses at a family friendly event sponsored by Spring Reins of Life from 1 to 6 p.m. at Foxx Creek Farm, 281 Long Hill Road, Hillsborough. Food, music, games, prizes and four live demos that illustrate equine-assisted psychotherapy.
There will be separate programs for combat veterans, at-risk teens and grieving children suffering from moderate to severe trauma. No riding, no horse experience needed.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church hosts monthly Slavic meal
Wed., June 8 — St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church holds its monthly dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., in the St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. $14 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and younger). All-you-can-eat pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes.

Touch-a-truck event benefits Manville library
Sat., June 11 — The Friends of the Manville Library and the Manville Recreation Department will give youngsters and adults a chance to “touch a truck” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Manville High School field, 1100 Brooks Blvd. There will be all kinds of vehicle and the chance to meet and greet police officers, fire fighters, medical technicians, sanitation workers and more. The fee of $2 per person or $5 per family funds the Friends group, which supports the local library.

Financial ‘coach’ to hold Mindful Money workshop

Fig tree farm manager to present to garden club
Thurs., June 16 — Bill Muzychko, founder and owner of Bill’s Figs at 329 Old York Road, Flemington, will talk to the Neshanic Garden Club at its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station.
Mr. Muzychko manages every stage in the life of a fig tree, including the planting, growing, picking, pruning and winterization of every tree he grows. He has not only developed a system that eliminates the need to “bury” fig trees during the winter months but also dramatically increases crop output.
This is also the club’s annual meeting, which will include the installation of 2016-17 officers. Luncheon will be catered by La Strada Café at $20 per person.

GOP election committee hosts golf fundraiser
Fri., July15 — The Hillsborough Republican Election Committee will hold a modified scramble golf outing at Royce Brook Golf Club, on Hamilton Road. Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., with shotgun start at 1 p.m. Dinner at 6 p.m. and a Hawaiian shirt “beach bash” featuring the Tyrone Stackhouse Project band begins at 7.

Community theater — Somerset Valley Players will present “Boeing Boeing,” a high-flying comedic farce of the swinging ’60s, on weekends from June 3 to 19 at their theater on Amwell Road.
