Independents can register at the polls to vote for Sanders

Martin Oppenheimer, Franklin Township
Bernie Sanders, senator from Vermont, running for the presidential nomination of the Democratic Party, has shifted the political conversation in this country in a more progressive direction by advocating a number of important reforms.
He has led the fight for a fair economy all of his political life. He is for a $15 minimum wage, for tight financial regulation, and for getting big corporate money out of politics. He is a strong advocate for protecting the environment (and against fracking). He has a consistent record supporting civil liberties and rights. He rejects a foreign policy based on military build-ups and saber-rattling. And his reputation for honesty and integrity is unchallenged.
Independent voters should know that they can register for either party at their polling place the day of the primary election (Tuesday, June 7).
I urge them to register as Democrats, and that they, and presently registered Democrats, will vote for Bernie Sanders and his slate of delegates to the Democratic convention.
