Red Bank a Tree City USA honoree

RED BANK — The Arbor Day Foundation has announced that Red Bank has been named a Tree City USA community to honor its commitment to community forestry. It is the tenth year Red Bank has received the national honor from the Arbor Day Foundation, which is dedicated to planting trees.

“We all benefit when communities like Red Bank place a high priority on planting and caring for trees, one of our nation’s most beautiful resources,” said John Rosnow, chief executive and founder of the Arbor Day Foundation.

“Trees shade our homes and add beauty to our neighborhoods, and they also provide many environmental, economic and social benefits. We applaud Red Bank’s elected officials, volunteers and citizens for providing vital care for its urban forest,” he said.

The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. Red Bank met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community by having a tree board or department, tree-care ordinance, community forestry program with annual expenditures of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

The Arbor Day Foundation is a nonprofit, environmental and education organization with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. For more information, visit www.arborday.org.
