The Friends of the Jamesburg Public Library will host an appearance by “Col. Jacob B. Sweitzer” of the Union Army (re-enactor Elliot Stroul) 1 p.m. June 11 at the library, 229 Gatzmer Ave.
The colonel will offer little-known information about the Civil War. Sweitzer was prosecuting attorney for Allegheny County, Pa., prior to the war and successfully tried the first runaway slave case in Pennsylvania. He had an outstanding military record, survived being wounded three times and lived to serve his country for many years.
Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 732-521-0440.
