WOODBRIDGE — The investigation is continuing into the death of a five-year-old boy who was run over by a UPS truck last week.

Police Capt. Roy Hoppock said the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Cheryl Drive in the Gill Lane Village apartment complex in the Iselin section of the township on June 2.

The UPS truck driver, a 38-year-old man, was making a delivery on Cheryl Drive.

“As he was making the delivery, the boy apparently was chasing a ball that had gone under the truck,” Hoppock said. “The UPS driver entered the truck, apparently didn’t see the child under the truck and drove off.”

The young child was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“No charges have been filed at this time … this was unfortunately a terrible tragedy,” he said.
