SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police are advising residents of overnight burglaries in the past several days in the township.
On June 16, a resident of Warren Court reported that someone entered the home while they were sleeping and reportedly stole a wallet and a purse, according to a statement prepared by the South Brunswick Police Department. The resident believes the garage door may have been left open overnight and the entry door from the garage into the home was unlocked.
Another incident was reported early June 17 on Brook Drive West. In that incident, while the homeowners were sleeping, the suspects entered through a rear first floor unlocked window and stole a pocketbook, police said.
There had been three other overnight burglaries of occupied homes throughout the township, police said. In each case, the suspect(s) reportedly gain entry from an unlocked sliding glass door, open garage or unsecured window. They steal items located on the first floor near the point of entry. None of the residents realized their homes had been entered until they woke up in the morning and attempted to locate the stolen items, police said.
Police remind residents to secure all doors and windows prior to going to sleep for the night. Anyone seeing any unusual or suspicious activity is asked to call 911 or 732-329-4646.
