Park System to hold summer seining program at Sandy Hook Bay

PORT MONMOUTH — Discover a variety of fish, crabs and other sea creatures when the Monmouth County Park System hosts “Seining Along Sandy Hook Bay” this summer at Bayshore Waterfront Park in Port Monmouth and at the Popamora Point section of the Henry Hudson Trail in Highlands.

During this hands-on program, area residents are invited to join Park System naturalists as they seine the water and identify the aquatic creatures caught. Designed for individuals and families, this free program is open to all ages. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should meet on the beach at each location. Closed-toe shoes are required.

The Bayshore Waterfront Park program is currently offered from 11 a.m.-noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through Aug. 26.

The Popamora Point program will take place from 11 a.m.-noon on the following Tuesdays and Thursdays: June 23, July 19 and 21 and Aug. 2, 4, 23 and 25.
