Emley’s Hill United Methodist Church of Cream Ridge is teaming up with the New Egypt Elks to provide assistance to people in need.
Until July 15, both organizations will be collecting non-perishable food items in support of the annual Good Samaritan Food Pantry Food Drive.
According to a press release, with school out for the summer, parents who regularly struggle to feed their children have a harder time doing so during the summer since they can no longer rely on free or subsidized lunches provided by schools.
According to officials, the food pantry supports more than 50 families throughout the area and the increased need at this time of the year makes the food drive more important.
The New Egypt Elks have pledged to donate about $900 worth of food, according to the press release. Church officials said they hope they can double that amount with support from the public.
Donations of non-perishable food may be dropped off at New Egypt Elks Lodge No. 2457, 105 Lakewood Road, Plumsted, or at Emley’s Hill United Methodist Church, 69 Emley’s Hill Road, Upper Freehold.
