Caregivers of New Jersey is now accepting applications for its $1,000 Caregiver Youth Award, which will be presented to one eligible youth caregiver between the ages of 8 and 18. The application deadline is Sept. 1.
According to the National Alliance for Caregiving, there are at least 1.3 million youth caregivers between the ages of 8 and 18 in the United States. Youth caregivers are children who reverse roles with family members who have become ill or disabled and provide care for them. Being a youth caregiver is not easy, and it requires personal sacrifices.
Caregivers of New Jersey wants to recognize the hard work of youth caregivers in New Jersey. For an application, visit www.njcaregivers.org. All applicants must fill out the application and write an essay explaining their role as a caregiver.
