The program director for Preferred Home Health Care and Nursing Services Inc., Ellen Stone, was named the recipient of the Carol J. Kientz Member of the Year Award by the Home Care & Hospice Association of NJ for extraordinary service and for “going above and beyond” in promoting excellence in home care and hospice in New Jersey.
The Member of the Year award will be presented to Stone at the annual conference and luncheon of the Home Care & Hospice Association of NJ on June 16 at Tropicana Resort & Casino, Atlantic City.
Stone, who has 22 years of operational and clinical experience in home care, instituted a training program for Preferred’s home health aides and developed a recruitment and training strategy to expand clinical staff at the branch level.
Stone serves as chairwoman of the Home Health Aide Committee and sits on the Education Committee. With Karen McCoy, Stone has formulated and presented seminars, such as “How to Run a Home Health Aide Class” and “Nurse Delegation.”
She has participated in the discussion with the Board of Nursing Association about issues pertaining to home health aide certification. She is also on the Training Committee for the Employer Coalition for Healthcare Workforce Expansion through the New Jersey Health Care Talent Network.
In addition, Stone represented Preferred at the Greater Ocean Township and Long Branch chambers of commerce and assisted in the formation of a statewide networking group associated with the health-care industry.
