RED BANK — Director, writer, producer and Red Bank native Kevin Smith has a lot to celebrate. The director has announced the Aug. 2 premiere of his latest film, “Yoga Hosers,” at Count Basie Theatre, 99 Monmouth St.
Smith will also be on hand for a Q-and-A session that will also serve as a celebration of his 46th birthday.
The film co-stars the director’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith, along with Lily-Rose Depp and her father, Johnny. “Yoga Hosers” is the second film in Smith’s True North trilogy, which started with Smith’s 2014 horror comedy, “Tusk.”
Fifteen-year-old Colleen Collette (Harley Quinn Smith) and Colleen McKenzie (Lily-Rose Depp) are nuts about yoga and love their smartphones, but hate their afterschool job at the Manitoban convenience store Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with the legendary manhunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Johnny Depp) to fight for their lives with all seven chakras, one warrior pose at a time.
Tickets are available by calling 732-842-9000 or visiting www.theBASIE.org. The national release of “Yoga Hosers” is set for Sept. 2.
